When you win the league title as impressively as Shanghai Port did last season, there are bound to be plenty of challengers coming for your throne as you try to defend it. Thankfully for them, the early signs indicate that they may well have gotten even better than they once were. Of course, in a league like this one, they can’t afford to have any kind of major slip-ups.
So far, so good to start the season for the champions. They’ve played 11 games up to this point and they’ve managed to go unbeaten, winning eight and drawing three. They’ve also scored an insane 37 goals in that time, giving you an idea of just how prolific they can be.
Chengdu Form Guide
Chengdu enjoyed the definition of a strong end to the campaign and a top four finish was no more than they deserved. It appears as if they’re ready to carry that momentum forward into this season. They clearly have a hungry squad of players and in a league like this one, that can take you really far - and we’re fascinated to see whether or not they can sustain this.
Following a slight blip a few weeks ago, Chengdu are starting to look like they’re back on track. They are 3rd in the league with eight wins, one draw and three defeats to their name. Sure, they’re slightly behind the two sides from Shanghai, but they’ve got what it takes to keep the pace.
Match Prediction
We’re talking about two of the most exciting teams in the league here and, alongside that, they’re also two of the more defensively sound sides at this point in the campaign. We don’t think it’s going to be a blowout for either, but what we do anticipate is a competitive game with under 2.5 goals scored.
